Matthew 16:13-16 (NIV)13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” 14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
We often allow ourselves and those around us off the hook when it comes to Jesus. We accept that people call him a good teacher or a good example of what we should be but often disregard him as the Christ. The way Jesus taught and the things he said means he was either a mad man of His time, or the one we call Christ.
C.S. Lewis writes "either Jesus is the Son of God; or a madman or worse. But His being just a great teacher? He's not left that open to us."
Today, make your decision on who Jesus is, understand what that means to refer to Him as Christ, and don't let yourself off the hook.
Have a blessed day!
